Sports Council

The Sports Council consists of volunteers who represent sports from within the Wolverhampton area.

Each individual will promote their sport and encourage nominations for grants to improve participation of their chosen sport for any members of the local community.

Roles & Responsibilities –

President

  1. To be the ambassador for the WSAC in all formal events EG Hall of Fame, Annual Awards.
  2. Able to attend meetings of WSAC if they wish to.
  3. This is a non-voting position.
  4. Elected annually at the AGM through the agreed election process.
  5. Optional position.
  6. To oversee any other activities the Chair may from time to time request but this would be at the President’s discretion.
  7. To be influential in establishing sustainable relationships with third parties.

Chair

  1. To Chair the meetings of the WSAC
  2. Elected annually at the AGM through the agreed election process
  3. To ensure meetings proceed as per agendas
  4. To ensure that all members have equal opportunity to speak whilst ensuring that discussions are to the point
  5. To attend the majority of WSAC meetings.
  6. To chair the Hall of Fame sub-committee and oversee that matters proceed as appropriate.
  7. To be the link Committee member between the WSAC and WCC regarding the Hall of Fame.
  8. To be a signature for all cheques (one of four signatures agreed with the banks).
  9. To present a ‘Chair’s Report’ for AGMs.

Vice-Chair

  1. To Chair the meetings of the WSAC in the absence of the Chair
  2. Elected annually at the AGM through the agreed election process
  3. To oversee any other activities the Chair may from time to time request
  4. To attend the majority of WSAC meetings.
  5. To be the Link Committee member between the WSAC, WCC and Local councillors.
  6. To be a signature for all cheques (one of four signatures agreed with the banks).

Secretary

  1. To circulate calling notices and agendas to all committee members, councillors and any other
    bodies as appropriate.
  2. To circulate all minutes of meetings within a month of meetings being held (electronically).
  3. To deal with correspondence.
  4. To liaise with Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer and any other bodies as appropriate.
  5. To ensure that any personal details of members be retained in a confidential and safe way.
  6. To book the venue/room for meetings.
  7. To ensure that all WSAC Annual Trophies are displayed in the allocated display cabinet/area.
  8. Elected annually at the AGM through the agreed election process
  9. To be a signature for all cheques (one of four signatures agreed with the banks).
  10. To attend the majority of WSAC meetings.
  11. To present a ‘Secretary’s Report’ for AGMs.

Treasurer

  1. The Treasurer has a watchdog role over all aspects of financial management, working closely with the Management Committee, Sub Groups and other members of WSAC to safeguard its finances
  2. Planning, overseeing and keeping track of event and activity budgets
  3. Collecting, depositing and managing funds
  4. Provide regular financial reports to fellow WSAC members
  5. To attend the majority of WSAC meetings
  6. To liaise with CWC and recognised partners on financial matters, as required
  7. To liaise with appointed auditors
  8. To present an audited Treasurer’s report to the AGM on the Income and Expenditure Accounts for the financial year ended 31st October and Balance Sheets, as at that date
  9. To be a signatory for all withdrawals from WSAC funds
    (one of four signatories agreed at the AGM for all accounts held with banks and financial institutions)

All positions to be elected annually.
